GreenFest will take place on Saturday, March 20th at COTI Community Christian School on Indian Rocks Beach, FL! To gear up for this event, kids and adults alike will enjoy this simple at-home project which helps the earth.
Many animals have lost their homes. Kids can help! Build a birdhouse out of a milk carton and give a bird a home in just 10 easy steps!
1. Open the top of the milk carton and clean it out really well.
2. Using scissors, cut a hole in the side of the carton. The hole should be about the size of a doorknob.
3. On the other side, make two holes. One hole should be a few inches from the top, the other a few inches from the bottom. They should be nail-sized, so with a parent's help, use a nail to make the hole.
4. Put wire through the top hole, down the inside of the carton and back out through the bottom hole.
5. Make a bird's bed inside the carton using dried grass or even dog hair inside the carton.
6. Seal the carton back up!
7. Find a great place to hang the new home.
8. Hang the home by hammering in two nails wherever you plan to hang the home. The nails should be about 12 inches apart, one above the other.
9. Wrap the wire around the nails, making it tight so it won't fall off.
10. Take a picture and share your good work with everyone at COTI!
